Add Parents

In MC 2.0, User profiles (staff and parents) are treated a bit differently than in the MC Legacy version. There will no longer be the issue of their email address conflicting because it is in use on another MC account. To enable this change and allow staff members and parents to be linked to multiple schools' accounts, the profile information, like the password, is actually managed by the user instead of the school administration. So, the process to create a user profile is somewhat different than it has been in the past. To create a new profile on your account for a Parent/Guardian, please follow these steps:

  1. Select the "Account Admin" role from the dropdown menu in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Select "Parents/Guardians" from the left-side navigation menu.
  3. Click the purple "+ Invite Parent/Guardian" button in the upper right corner of the page.
  4. Enter the first and last name, email address, and phone number (optional) for the parent you are inviting, and select the Student and Relationship to that student for this parent.
  5. If the parent has more than one child in the school, click the "Add One More Child" link and select the name and relationship for that student as well.
  6. Click the yellow "Send Invite" button. That parent will now appear under the "Invited " section of the Parents/Guardians page.

The parent will then need to check their email for the invitation and click the link found within it. There, they will enter their name and create a password for their profile. Once this is complete, they will be shown 2 QR codes, one for iOS and one for Android, which they will scan according to their type of device and then download the Classroom Share mobile app for parents. They'll use the same username (email) and password they set during the invitation process to login to the app. On the School Administrator's view, their user profile will be moved from the "Invited Staff Users" section to the "Active Staff Users" section.

A Parent profile will only be able to see information shared with them regarding a student that the school has linked to the parent, general classroom information for the classroom in which their child is assigned, or general information that is shared with ALL SCHOOL. Parents will not see information regarding students who are not their child.
