Create Trackers

Trackers are a flexible tool that enable you to create a customized list of things you need to keep track of throughout the school day/year. Replace paper forms you currently utilize for daily things like naps, meals, or toilet-training. Trackers can be automatically shared with parents via optional daily/weekly Activity Reports or can be kept private. Powerful reporting tools enable you to instantly see which students have turned in the field trip permission slip or how many students still need to complete a special classroom project. Trackers can be extremely flexible and useful for both Teachers and Administrators.

To create a Tracker, first create a new Tracker Category by following the steps below:

  1. Go to <Trackers> and click the "Edit Trackers" link at the top of the page.
  2. Click "Add Tracker Category" and enter a name for the category (for example, Naps).
  3. Check the box next to "Share with Parents"  if you want Trackers from this category to be shared with parents on Activity Reports. If you want them kept private, leave it unchecked.
  4. Click "Create Tracker Category" to save.

Now you can create specific Trackers, such as "I had a great nap today!" or "I did not take a nap today."

  1. Click the "Add tracker" link to the right of a Tracker Category.
  2. Enter the name and optional description of the Tracker.
  3. Be sure to choose the appropriate Cycle Years for the Tracker. Similar to Lessons, a Tracker must be tagged to at least one cycle year assigned to your classroom in order to view or record that Tracker for your students.
  4. Click "Update Tracker" to save.

Pro Tip: Just like the curriculum lessons, Trackers are displayed in the Trackers Grids of different classrooms based on the cycle years selected for each. It is not necessary for each classroom to create their own list of Trackers, but, for example, a single "wet diaper" tracker tagged to the Toddler cycle year will appear in ALL toddler classrooms' Trackers Grids. If multiple versions of the same Tracker are created and tagged to the same cycle year(s), they will all appear in the Trackers Grid for all the relevant-aged classrooms and may cause confusion. So, it may be a good idea to collaborate by level to create the list of Trackers that make sense for each age group.
